Hardoi-Etawah Link Expressway to connect Ganga and Agra-Lucknow

A new link expressway connecting Etawah to Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh (UP) has been planned, marking another step toward improving the State’s infrastructure. The Hardoi-Etawah Link Expressway will link UP’s longest expressway, the Ganga Expressway, to the Agra-Lucknow Expressway near Etawah. Read on for more details.

The Etawah-Hardoi link expressway will span 92 kilometres and feature six lanes, with provisions for future expansion. It will cost approximately Rs 6,600 crore and is being developed under the supervision of the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA). Readycon India Limited has been appointed as the project development consultant.

The route for the project has been finalised, and construction is set to begin soon. This expressway is expected to benefit commuters from several districts, including Etawah, Kannauj, Mainpuri, Farrukhabad, Shahjahanpur, and Hardoi.

The link expressway will also improve connectivity for travellers heading to Bundelkhand, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, and districts near the Nepal border. By connecting the Ganga Expressway and Agra-Lucknow Expressway, it will significantly reduce travel time for passengers moving between eastern and western UP.

Local residents will also get the advantage of infrastructure improvements. Bridges will be built over the Gambhiri, Ramganga, and Ganga rivers, improving access to nearby villages.

Further, the Chitrakoot Expressway will connect with the Hardoi-Etawah Link Expressway, creating a more extensive network of high-speed roads in the State.

To facilitate construction, UPEIDA has directed district administrations and Special Land Acquisition Officers to provide revenue maps. The authority has also asked for records of the revenue villages falling on the route, particularly in the Sawayajpur and Shahabad regions.

Uttar Pradesh is rapidly setting benchmarks in terms of infrastructure development, with 15 expressways already operational or under construction. The Ganga Expressway, spanning 584 kilometres, is set to become the longest expressway in the State.

Connecting the Ganga Expressway with the 302-km-long Agra-Lucknow Expressway via the Hardoi-Etawah Link Road will improve regional connectivity. It will also enhance trade and transportation in these areas, boosting economic activity.
